DS1307 RTC Real time clock mini-breakout. Overview. DS1307 Arduino tutorial (Part 10, real time clock) Pedro Ney Stroski / 6 de November de 2018. This is the part 10 of Arduino tutorial series, will be shown the operation of a real time clock and an example of project. The DS3231SN chip. Smiley's Workshop 51: Fritzing With the Arduino — Part 3. learning about Fritzing — a novice-friendly electronics hardware design package that we are using to design a real time clock (RTC) shield for an Arduino. We saw how to use Fritzing to take the breadboard design from Part 1 and In this tutorial we will learn how to use DS3231 Real Time Clock with the Arduino. This tutorial serves as a general introduction to the DS1307 and the SparkFun Real Time Clock Module. It covers both the hardware and firmware requirements of the breakout -- documenting both example wiring and Arduino code for the chip. For this tutorial you just need an Arduino Nano 3.0, a DS1307 real-time clock module a breadboard and wires. Regarding the I2C bus and to avoid communications problems make sure that your RTC module is equipped with pull-up resistors on the SDA and SCL lines. The IC is a Real-Time Clock (RTC) and it is used along with the crystal oscillating at 32.768 kHz to keep perfect time. Thanks to the CR2032 battery, the RTC keeps the time even after the Arduino is unplugged, which prevents the need for reprogramming every time the Arduino loses power. A real-time clock (RTC) chip is basically just like a watch — it runs on a battery and keeps time for you even when there is a power outage. Using an RTC in your project, you can keep track of long timelines, even if you reprogram your microcontroller or disconnect it from USB or its power plug.
